Education of students as part of the project "No to violence - yes to tolerance"

In the period from December 5 to December 15, 2023, SDDH conducted education for students at the First Gymnasium Zagreb (3rd grade), Jelkovec High School (2nd grade), Vinogradska School of Nursing (2nd grade), Vocational School for Personal Services (1st grade) and Dugave I Elementary School (3rd grade) as part of the project "NO to Violence - YES to Tolerance".

In the first training module Let's familiarize ourselves with the rights The children were introduced to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The differences between children with and without disabilities with the aim of reducing prejudice, as well as the challenges of children with disabilities, especially with MD, were presented in the second module of the education. It's different cool, while in the third module NO violence Students were presented with the forms of peer violence, the differences between violence and conflict, and were presented with the quiz "STOP peer violence".

The students watched the SDDH's educational animated whiteboard video about tolerance of diversity and prevention of peer violence, which, through the story of Julia and Jan, outlines the problems of peer violence, the consequences it leaves behind, as well as ways of fighting and coping, and conveys a strong message that peer violence can be overcome by allied forces. to stop.

At the end of the training, conducted by Dragana Budimir, an expert associate at SDDH - psychologist, all students were given pink balloons and pink T-shirts with the message "STOP Peer Violence" so that they could mark the National Day against Peer Violence - Pink T-Shirt Day - in their schools on the last Wednesday in February 2024.

The project "NO TO VIOLENCE - YES TO TOLERANCE" was financed from the budget of the City of Zagreb, and approved within the framework of the Public tender for financing programs and projects of associations in the field of social and humanitarian importance for improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities from the Budget of the City of Zagreb for 2023.

For many years, SDDH has been implementing numerous projects and programs in the field of prevention of violence against and among children and young people, with the synergistic action of state and public institutions and civil society organizations.
